Should stores ask their customers to prove that they're not criminals by demanding receipts?

The point

So, the point of this blog is to create an area where various opinions on the practices of big-box stores may be discussed. My own personal Everest is proving to people that no, I do NOT have to show the receipt for what I just purchased to the person at the door.
